Mid-June and Hurricanes
So here we are, in Florida and waiting expectantly for another tropical system to nail another portion of our coastline. Thankfully, nowhere near here in Miami, where we're not even getting heavy rains, just clouds and dreariness. I've managed to make a pair of mixes for everyone to enjoy this week. The first is a mix for the wonderful, Rhina, who recently had a birthday and is one of the best icon makers in the non-existent business.
The second is a mix of groups that sound a lot like older, more established bands in one way or another. These are groups some critics like to call "derivative," meaning they've got no artistic merit on their own (with the Mars Volta being the main exception to this rule.) Personally, having loved a lot the originals, I quite enjoy where some of these "imitators" are taking their influences. It came out pretty spacey on the whole, but you all know how much I enjoy spacey, psychedelic music. . .
